Small world... really.

Just had an amazing revelation this morning. But before I tell you about it, I'll tell you about what happened last Sunday first. so my brother was installing UBUNTU in my laptop (I am dual boot now), and he was going through my files to transfer in the appropriate drive when he saw the picture of my student and his mom, Mommy J and JR. He told me that she looked familiar and she might be his ex's dorm mate in college.

So just this morning, I asked if Mommy J knew R and her reaction was just unexplainable. She was shocked because we had common friends. Then she said she was friends with her when they were still in HS, so me, knowing that R, N, Z and J were classmates in HS, I asked her if she knows them too. Turns out, J was her husband's (her bf then) friend, N was her HS bff and so was Z.. and that they lived in the same dorm in college.. and that she used to attend Cell meetings and church services in Victory Alabang but since they got married (Daddy R) and had JR., she never had the chance to attend again since Daddy R is "sagrado katoliko". And so we talked about N, etc. and how she misses them. The last time they talked was when they were still in college, etc. etc. And she kept on saying that she was so surprised to have alot of connections and that maybe, this was really God's time and calling for her to get reunited with her friends.

It was just awesome, you know. How things turn out and how God works in everything. I know and believe that He planned everything, and that all of these were connected. The Ubuntu party = me having dual boot = brother checking out my photos = him and his ex knowing Mommy J before = and me teaching their son. It's just amazing. Small world indeed.

Film scans received!

I'm soooo excited! I just got my first and second film rolls scans using my Holga 135 BC :) Though there were a few "mistakes" like over-exposed and under-exposed films.. and there were some that didn't really come out well (especially the indoor shots), over all, I just loved it! Here are a few shots that I took!

That's my hubby.. Triple exposure.

What do you think of my first roll? :)

Analog Ambassador... Me?

That's me.

I never really like taking pictures of myself, I don't want people taking pictures of me either. I always thought that people taking a picture of themselves are vain. But why did I shoot this?

Who could not love the Holga 135BC in my hands? I'm a newbie in lomography and I am still learning about it through the internet and with the help of my newfound online friends. So, honestly, I am not the right person to ask about the technicalities of lomography and cameras.

So why me as an Analog Ambassador? Well, maybe because I want to explore analogue more. And share a bit of the Philippines (my own experiences in my beloved country). I may not be a photographer who captures timeless pictures, or traveler who could share about his journey around the world... But I could be just the simple person, who could share interesting day to day life experiences through the eyes of my Holga.

I already thought a name of my blog by the way (just in case you pick me): The everyday journey of a Pre-school teacher with an analogue camera in her hands

Let me know what you think :)

Let's argue about Mockingjay. And I'm hoping that you'd change the way I think about it.

Okay. So I just finished Mockingjay. And all I can say is… “That’s it???”

My reaction may infuriate other people and they may say that I’m a hater, but to tell you the truth, I LOVE THE HUNGER GAMES Trilogy. I devoured it. I loved it so much that I even have “nightmares” of it. Sometimes, in my dreams, I am inside the Arena. Sometimes, I am Katniss myself. But then, why the reaction?

1. I expected Mockingjay to have an EXPLOSIVE ending. I mean, with all those action and stuff, I was really expecting an ending that would leave me speechless.

I was expecting Katniss to kill both Snow and Coin. Or have a wild goose chase with either of them, thinking that Coin really did just use her. I was expecting her to kill Coin, but didn’t expect Snow to die of laughter, I mean — REALLY? Died of laughter or stampede? It was a pretty weak ending to a very strong Snow, don’t you think?

Then with Gale vs. Peeta. I know that the book was definitely not about the so-called “Love Triangle” among the three main characters. But then again, Gale was just like a bubble. Here in this page, gone the next. What really happened to him? He didn’t even say anything about Katniss killing Coin, or about going home to 12.

For Peeta, I was expecting him to have a realization on his part that Katniss wasn’t really the bad guy, and that he was sorry for everything, blah blah. But, he just appeared in 12 out of nowhere, baked bread for Katniss, took care of her, and then they had babies. That’s it.

There wasn’t really a resolution in the story, in my opinion. It looks like the author never intended to finish the trilogy, but just end it. Abruptly.

2. I didn’t get the term Mockingjay. I thought Katniss will be the one to lead the rebels. But all she did was to get hurt, get some morphling, doze off, hide behind the closet or go wherever she wants to go, do whatever Coin tells her, get hurt, morphling, so on. And that’s it. Didn’t even read about her being in a “real” fight. I like her better in Hunger Games and Catching Fire. She seemed too weak in the last book. But I stand corrected though. If you (whoever is reading this) thinks that I am wrong, you may correct me and tell me why Katniss wasn’t weak.

3. The fall of the Capitol was anti-climactic. Katniss saw the silver parachutes explode - that was it. Then she woke up in a hospital, with the hospital people telling her what happened. She was the Mockingjay. She was supposed to be the one to lead the rebels to victory not sleep through the war, and again, back to my point #2.

4. I expected a trial after Katniss killed Coin. But again, she spent the whole time inside her room, sleeping, not eating, bathing. That’s it.

5. The Capitol killing Cinna, I can accept. But Finnick. I can’t. COME ON. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT FINNICK HERE! I am just disappointed with the author killing Finnick. I think I am inlove with him.

But just so you know, my reaction with Mockingjay is not, in anyway, in connection with the first 2 books. I just love Hunger Games and Catching Fire. In fact, I am reading the first book again. I am going to read Mockingjay again, and try to make sense with what’s happening, and read it line by line again so I could understand everything more clearly.

And may the odds may ever be on your favor.

LOMO <3

LOMO <3

Just paid Php4,000 for my Holga 135BC with 15b flash. And I'm really hoping for it to arrive within this week. Because I'd be mad if it won't! Exhausting myself for almost 2 months in researching about Holga. Been reading blogs and forums about it. Here are a few of the preparations I made before I paid for my new cam:

1. Researched about it in lomomanila.com
3. And just about every lomography websites I find online.
4. Signed up for a lomo wall.
5. For flickr.
6. And Picasa.
7. I'm just excited

Didn't go to work today because of the Transportation Strike again. I don't want to risk going to work and not being able to go home afterwards because there'd be no jeepneys or tricycles available. Yep, even tricycles. Before it was only jeepneys, but now, also trics and motorcycles even.

This baby is MINE.

and this. Should've been multicolor too but the seller just have it in black. So it's ookay too.

Lomo LOCO!

I CAN'T wait for my lomo cameras!

Been looking at the pics online and studying them for almost 3 months already! I can't even remember how I got into Lomo.

So I'm planning to buy a Holga 135BC first. Notice the word "first"? Yeah, I plan on collecting them! But just the plastics only, because the other more complicated lomos are a bit expensive and I don't think my hubby would allow it.

So I am planning to buy the Holga 135BC first, with flash. Then buy some lenses for it, which is just a less than Php1,000. And that is still good for my budget.

Then this Vivatar camera which shoots in wide angles. I don't know if the GIF is working.

Vivitar
And then maybe a few plastic cameras like these:

And this one, ther Frog-eye, is a must in summer!

And who could not want these??

Aw. I love lomo.

Mockingjay, Hunger Games and Contagion

Oh Geez. I completely forgot about reading Mockingjay today. I was too caught up with Teen Wolf! And I am still re-reading The Hunger Games. I am already in the part where Katniss and Rue became allies and I am so close with the part where Rue is killed. One of the most emotional part of the book. I hope that the movie will make it good!

In school, I stayed in front of the computer the from 9 to 11am because I was fixing our financial records. My boss left for Canada already and I am left with all these work, but I am not complaining though. I love it when I have lots to do.
Watched Contagion with family and hubby yesterday. It was good! I loved every bit of it, though hubby fell asleep. LOL. Not the kind of movie he likes. He's more of an action type of guy so with all that dialogue in the movie, expect him to be drooling from sleep in no time.
